What Neon Hides

The Velden Skyway rooftop market floats forty floors above the city's fog layer, a tangle of cable-strung neon signs, folding stalls, and the low hum of elevated rail. You have come every evening this week to browse Sable Korr's curiosity stall — trinkets, folded papers, objects without obvious purpose. Tonight Sable is absent. The stall is untouched. But three of the seven coloured lanterns above it are dark, and you cannot shake the feeling that their arrangement means something.
