Cold Comfort at the Copper Eel

The Copper Eel is the only tavern at Peligro Cove, wedged between the tide-carved cliff and the low-water mark. The sea has pulled back far enough to expose the smugglers' shelf below the window, and a certain Doña Mira — self-styled 'businesswoman of the cove' — is nursing something cold at the corner table. You arrived first, which means you spotted something she hasn't yet: a sealed wax cylinder tucked into the crevice of the fireplace, just visible in the low glow of the embers. Whatever's inside is yours if you can get it out before she works out what you're doing.
