You have rowed ashore on a small volcanic isle that appears on no chart you own. The beach gives way to a clearing full of brass clockwork machines — waist-high, intricate, utterly still. At their centre stands a stone basin, dry as chalk. A thin channel carved into the rock connects the basin to each machine in turn. Whatever once made this place tick, it needs water.
